To be recognized as an effective Lean practitioner in today’s challenging and competitive marketplace, an individual must be able to demonstrate measurable results that drive profitable growth. Organizations who achieve such results must be dedicated to learning, seek opportunities for continuous improvement and willing to drive change. Those who have been successful change agents stress the importance of gaining experience through quality instruction, personal application and “critical path” mentoring.

How You Will Benefit

In order to earn a TBM Lean Certification, the TBM LeanSigma® Institute requires a serious commitment on the part of each participant as well as those who sponsor the participant. Students will be mentored by a TBM Lean veteran and graduate with hands-on experience and knowledge in the following critical areas:

Ability to develop a Lean Transformation “go-forward” plan for a site or business.
Identification and completion of a project that guarantees at least a 3x–5x return on your training investment.
Application of a Basic Lean Tool Kit which includes the fundamentals of the Toyota Production System along with the most advanced lean tools such as Progressive 5S and Poka-Yoke.
Actual Kaizen event experience and sustainment skills, gained by spending a week with a consultant facilitating a live Kaizen event.
Ability to apply proven methods, tools and techniques for tracking and sustaining critical performance metrics against daily production targets.
Advanced instructor training and exercises so you can teach, influence and motivate Kaizen teams.
Completion of a “Personalysis® Performance Inventory” which helps each participant to understand his or her tendencies to perform and be successful in a variety of situations and conditions.

Course Requirements

Lean Certification Candidates should plan to complete their certification over the course of four months and must meet the following requirements:

Must have a designated site sponsor who must be a Department Manager or above
Willingness and budget for travel to offsite training activities.
Four weeks of instructor-led workshops with training and simulations to ensure knowledge transfer
Four weeks of hands-on practical Lean activities conducted at a facility; assisted and reviewed by a TBM mentor
Final exam, project presentation, graduation ceremony and award of TBM Lean Certification diploma.

Who Should Attend

TBM suggests that Lean Certification Candidates have an established credibility in operations along with the interpersonal skills to promote group effectiveness. Candidates should be confident and articulate with strong problem-solving and leadership skills.

Those individuals in your organization who are responsible for management, supervision or continuous improvement in the areas of: production, engineering, quality, business process, materials management and distribution.
