Training

During the first sixteen weeks at TBM, our new consultants become intimately acquainted with our commitment to personal development and continuous learning. Nobody is idle or adrift. Following a week of structured orientation in our Durham, North Carolina offices, new associates spend most of their time out in the field shadowing senior consultants in a variety of industries, quickly learning our values and "bias for action."

New consultants spend time in class learning the principles of our business, but the real training takes place out in our client facilities. During their training period they travel around the U.S. working in large appliance facilities, window-making factories, and large service industries California to Europe. While gaining knowledge and being taught new skills from experienced TBM consultants, associates get hands on experience leading events, training clients and strategizing with senior managers.

Associate training offers a mixture of fieldwork and participation in our own highly rated Institute courses. In workshops, all of which are peppered with simulation games and breakout exercises, associates become skilled at revolutionizing the design process, performing the weeklong kaizen breakthroughs and creating lean roadmaps for clients.
