Anand Sharma

Anand Sharma
President and Chief Executive Officer

Co-founder of TBM Consulting Group, Inc. Anand Sharma has served as president and CEO since its beginning in 1991. In this capacity he has worked with some of the leading businesses around the globe helping them achieve top line and bottom line growth faster than their industry by doing more with less. He also made major contributions to Lean Thinking: by James P. Womack and Daniel T. Jones (Free Press 1996). Anand is author of The Perfect Engine: How to Win in the New Demand Economy by Building to Order With Fewer Resources (Free Press, 2001), and co-author of The Antidote: How to Transform your business for Extreme Challenges of the 21st Century (Managing Times Press 2006)

He was named a Hero of U.S. Manufacturing in 2001 by Fortune magazine and was awarded the 2002 Donald Burnham Manufacturing Management Award by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and was a monthly columnist for The Manufacturer, where he commented on business and economic trends. National media regularly seek his opinions on business and the new economy and he is a frequent speaker at gatherings such as the AME Annual Conference, Shingo Conference and Industry Week conferences.

In 2010 Anand joined the Board of Vermeer Corporation based in Pella, Iowa and also serves on their Governance Committee. Starting January 2012 he has accepted the invitation to Join the Board of WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG based in Klinginberg, Germany.

Prior to founding TBM Anand had more than 20 years of experience within the manufacturing industry and held a number of line and staff positions with American Standard, Inc. before becoming vice president of operations for one of its leading operating divisions. Immediately prior to establishing TBM Consulting Group, he was executive vice president at Productivity Inc. and headed the firm’s consulting and training practices.

He has a Masters degree in Business Administration from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Roorkree University in India. His education also includes Advanced Management studies at The Wharton School of Management plus attending many of the management seminars conducted by some of the leading thinkers of our time.


Bob Dean

Bob Dean
Executive Vice President - Dploy and Technology

Bob Dean is a co-founder of TBM Consulting Group, Inc. and vice president of administration and product development, a role that keeps him on the leading edge of trends in business improvement. Bob has been instrumental in the incorporation of lean business techniques and Six Sigma – creating LeanSigma – and in taking the improvement tools that traditionally belonged to manufacturing and applying them to service industries.

Bob is a frequent contributor to the Managing Times quarterly journal where he writes on developments in lean philosophies and, most recently, he has been helping companies integrate their value chains beyond manufacturing.

For nearly 20 years, Bob has been consulting with companies from the manufacturing and service sectors worldwide such as Allied Signal, Ames True Temper and Pella Corporation. He continues to have close ties with the Japanese team responsible for the legendary Toyota Production System, and has worked extensively with the core group of men who worked under Taichii Ohno, recognized as the father of just in time. Bob is a graduate of Clarkson University with a degree in Engineering.


Mark Gottfredson

Mark Gottfredson
Partner and a senior leader of the Performance Improvement Practice, Bain & Company

Mark Gottfredson is a director of Bain & Company, a global business consultancy, in the firm's Dallas office, which he founded in 1990. He is coauthor of The Breakthrough Imperative: How the Best Managers Get outstanding Results (HarperCollins, 2009), and his articles have appeared in Harvard Business Review, European Business Journal, the Globe and Mail, The Economist, and the Dallas Business Journal. He has been named to Consulting Magazine's list of top 25 consultants globally and is regularly quoted in publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Business Week, Fortune, The Economist, CBS Market Watch and Investor's Business Daily. Gottfredson received a BA in Japanese from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.


Mel Haught

Mel Haught
Former President and CEO of Pella Corporation

Mel Haught is the former President and CEO and 18-year veteran of Pella Corporation, a manufacturer of high quality residential and commercial windows and doors. Mr. Haught joined Pella as vice president of manufacturing in 1991 and later assumed roles as senior vice president of operations and engineering and executive vice president and chief operating officer. He assumed the position of president and CEO in 2002 and served in that role until his retirement in 2009. Haught was part of the team that brought the continuous improvement (CI) culture to Pella almost 18 years ago that continues to thrive today.

Haught earned his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Youngstown State University, Ohio and later graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Some of his past board appointments include: Hollister Incorporated, Pella Regional Health Center, the Iowa Business Council, Huber Engineered Woods, the Policy Advisory Board at the Harvard Joint Center on Housing, and Heartland Rail.

Prior to joining Pella, Haught worked at General Motors’ Packard Electric Division and later followed with several senior-level assignments at Molex Incorporated. He was a TBM client for almost 17 years and has a clear understanding of the TBM service offering and how its services can help companies to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.


Bill Remy

Bill Remy
Executive Vice President, International Operations

Bill Remy is a senior executive with over twenty-five years of leadership experience in business management and manufacturing operations. Bill returned to TBM in the summer of 2011 after working at Invensys as Vice President, Continuous Improvement. Prior to Invensys, Bill led the initiative to develop and launch TBM’s lean supply chain practice.

At Invensys Bill led the implementation of the company’s global continuous improvement programs for three business units with more than 20,000 employees operating in 80+ countries. The program has delivered over £100 million in annual productivity improvements, trained more than 3,000 associates and completed over 5,000 kaizen events or projects during a three-year period.

Prior to joining TBM the first time, Bill was president of Thayer Aerospace, where he tripled the business in six years, improved profitability and increased inventory turns by instilling lean methods. In previous positions, he developed manufacturing cells and key performance metrics, focused on throughput and lead-time reduction and implemented various setup-reduction activities. His broad base of experience includes roles at Learjet/Bombardier, Lockheed-Martin, Allied-Signal and Intel Corporation.

Today, Bill is Executive Vice President of International Operations, responsible for developing and growing TBM’s International business in Europe, China, India and Brazil. He is also a member of the TBM Board of Directors. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.


Dan Sullivan

Dan Sullivan
Executive Vice President and Partner

Dan Sullivan is Executive Vice President and Partner of TBM Consulting Group, Inc. He serves on the TBM Board of Directors and leads the firm’s North American consulting operations. He joined TBM as a team leader and helped the company expand operations throughout North America and into Mexico and Brazil.

Dan joined TBM in 1994 and became a partner in 2000. Prior to joining TBM, Dan served as Director of Body Engineering at Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation. During his tenure at Nissan, he held several progressively responsible roles in engineering and operations. Dan is considered to a subject matter in the Toyota Production System. In fact, he studied lean with the Japanese and established Nissan’s shop floor improvement system called Nissan Gemba Kanri in the late 1980s.

He is recognized and often requested by clients for his deep experience in establishing leadership and management systems that support sustainable high performance. He is adept at motivating teams and has remained a trusted advisor to many executives including a 17-year relationship with Pella Corporation. Most recently, Dan is working directly with senior leaders at Pactiv Corporation, Carlisle Companies and John Deere to implement lean business systems, drive cultural change, and align continuous improvement initiatives to key strategic objectives. He helps clients develop, implement and perfect their management process with Hoshin Kanri (Strategy Deployment / Policy Deployment) to achieve breakthrough objectives.

Dan has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
